Cable laying

How broadband cable duct is laid in road verges

MGM Utilities, subcontractors for Gigaclear, at work in the lane between Lillycombe and Deadbeer, Clayhidon. Gigaclear say these pictures show that they are not undermining the bank. They cut into the verge immediately adjoining the tarmac. After laying the cable duct(below left) they back-fill -  first with aggregate (below, centre), which they compact, and then with soil (below right). Some parish councillors and farmers believe this work is undermining the banks. Gigaclear contends that in fact the banks are strengthened, and  that once the vegetation regrows we  will forget the cable is there.  >Row over cable laying.
