APRIL 16 2012
CLAYHIDON PARISH COUNCIL REPORT
BY SUE HAY

CHAIRMAN AND VC RE-ELECTED: At the start of the meeting Chairman, Richard Kalloway, and Vice Chairman, Alan Redwood, were re-elected, unopposed, for a second term.

AFFORDABLE HOME: Issues discussed included the Community Land Trust which is now in place for Hemyock and Clayhidon. It is hoped that this can be used as a vehicle to ensure the affordability of the Clayhidon ‘affordable home’. There will be more details available after the Hemyock Parish Meeting.

FOOTPATH IMPROVEMENTS: Clayhidon has received a grant from the County for further footpath improvements.

FORD STREET ICE: The Clerk has spoken with the Somerset Highways Officer about the problem encountered with running water and ice, during last winter, on the top section of Ford Street and also the erosion that is becoming a problem at Hidewood Ford.

PARISH COUNCIL ACCOUNTS: These were discussed and agreed prior to the annual audit.

ROAD SAFETY: Concerns have been raised by parishioners about the high speed of some vehicles on our small, narrow, winding lanes. There is understandable concern that these vehicles increase the danger to animals and pedestrians, especially children.

HIDON WOOD: This is a community wood with access off the Heazle road through a pedestrian gate. It is there for parishioners to visit and enjoy but is in need of maintenance work. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

NEXT MEETING: The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held in The Parish Hall on Monday 11th June at 7.30pm.
