Clayhidon Parish Council, April 2013

Report of Clayhidon Parish Council Meeting, 8 April 2013.

The meeting commenced with the election of the Chairman and Vice Chairman for the forthcoming year. Richard Kalloway and Alan Redwood were re-elected unopposed.

The Upper Culm Community Land Trust has now reached agreement on the allocation policy for the new homes which will be built in Hemyock along the Culmstock road. Don’t forget that Clayhidon residents are eligible to apply for these affordable homes.

MDDC have received a new, more realistic, valuation for the Clayhidon affordable home and the Parish Council has received an expression of interest from a Clayhidon resident. We are now waiting to see how the developer decides to proceed.

There are still flooding problems on the road near Deadbeer and also near Bridge Cross. Councillor Radford agreed to pass this information to the Highways Department

Gray’s Quarry: a draft agreement between the PC and the Scouts was considered. Once this has been agreed the Scouts will begin to use Gray’s Quarry for some of their activities.

Hidon Wood: work is progressing well to clear the path along the east and south edge. This has let in more light and already more birds can be heard. Some funding has been allocated for work here and it was suggested that it would be good to use this to make a gateway between the Wood and Clayhidon Turbary

The County have a statutory duty to continually review the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way. It is now the turn of Clayhidon. Emily Spurway, who is leading the review, will be at the next Parish Council meeting to explain more about it and to answer questions. There are more details of footpaths which are currently under consideration, in the review, on the Footpath page.

If you apply for planning permission and would like to make representation to the Parish Council, please contact the Clerk (Tel. 01823 680606). It is often necessary to consider applications between Council meetings to fit with the deadlines of the Planning department.

The Parish annual accounts were presented and an Auditor appointed.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Wednesday 5 June in the Parish Hall. (Please note the change of day for this meeting only)
