Clayhidon Parish Council, July 2012

Report of Clayhidon Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 2 July 2012.

COMMUNITY LAND TRUST: The meeting started with an update on The Upper Culm Community Land Trust (CLT). This trust has been formed by Hemyock and Clayhidon with the aim of harnessing Government funding to provide good quality affordable homes for local residents who wish to stay in the area but, at present, are prevented from doing so by the level of rents.

There was a very well attended meeting in Hemyock Parish Hall on 22nd June when the remit of the Trust was widely debated. The minutes of this meeting can be found here

All members of both Parishes are eligible to apply to join the CLT. Each member must hold a minimum of 5 £1 shares.
Once this application process is complete there will be an election to appoint the Directors to the Board of the CLT. This meeting will be held on Saturday 22nd September at 7.30.
If you would like more information about this then you should apply to the secretary, Neil Punnett, on 01823 680972 or email neilpunnett@aol.com.

MOBILE HOME APPEAL: The owners of the Ten Oaks mobile home have appealed the decision to refuse retrospective planning permission. This was due to be heard on 10th July. Alan Redwood agreed to represent the Parish Council at this meeting and we are awaiting the outcome.

ADVICE SOUGHT ON  WOOD: Hidon Wood was discussed further and it was agreed to seek advice on the general management tasks that need to be done.

'NO' TO DEFIBRILLATOR: St John Ambulance has written to the Parish offering the chance to buy a defibrillator and train volunteers in its use. This was discussed but it was decided that it would not be of significant benefit to the Parish.
To be successful the defibrillator has to be used within four minutes of a cardiac arrest. As our Parish is so dispersed it was felt that this would very rarely be possible.

COUNCIL THANKS SIR NIGEL: Our Jubilee celebrations were a great success. Sir Nigel Essenhigh reported to the meeting  and was thanked by the Parish Council for all his hard work. If anyone would still like to buy a Jubilee Mug we will be doing a final order in August. They are £6 each. Please contact The Clerk on 01823 680606.

COUNCIL REPORTS: Councillors Ray Radford and Frank Rosamund also gave reports on Mid Devon and County issues.

NEXT MEETING: The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Monday 13th August at 7.30pm in the Church Rooms (NB. change of venue)
