Parish Hall‎ > ‎

Autumn 2015 programme at Clayhidon Hall

Nights are drawing in and Clayhidon's Parish Hall Committee has swung into action to bring a bit of cheer this autumn. We have put together a programme of music, film and entertainment that we hope you will enjoy.

There will be a licensed bar at all these events. Supper is available at the live shows and ice cream and popcorn will be on sale at the film nights.

MATT HARVEY, WONDERMENTALIST

The wonderful Matt Harvey is performing live in our little hall on Saturday 3rd October. Matt is one of the UK's funniest stand up poets, often heard on Radio 4.

He is bringing his Edinburgh  Festival show here to us in the Blackdown Hills, for just £8 per ticket (£6 concs) . You can really push the boat out and make an evening of it by buying a home made  supper for a further £3 per head. Email Caroline Bendle for tickets carouselle@btinternet.com (01823 681047).

HELEN MIRREN IN CLAYHIDON?

As an experiment we are dipping our toes into the film club world, We are using Moviola, a not for profit organisation that brings professionally projected films to rural communities.  Kicking off on Friday 9th October ,  Woman in Gold (cert 12A) provides yet another stellar performance by Helen Mirren.

If you haven't seen this film, you've missed a treat. It is the true story of one woman's fight to recover her family's heritage stolen by the Nazis in WW2. Beautifully acted with humour and sensitivity. Tickets £6 per head or £20 per family (2+2). email lucyball132@btinternet.com  (01823 680607).

BLACKHEART, AN ‘UTTERLY MAGICAL’ BAND

We haven't forgotten the many dedicated live music followers we have here in the Culm Valley. On Friday October 30th we have a performance by Blackheart, described as an utterly magical band.

They are often categorised as  a modern folk band, but one of the many critics who have raved about them called them “a heavenly fusion of acoustic folk, intelligent pop and classical music”. They were voted the Best British duo in the 2014 UK Exposure Music Awards.
Tickets £8 per head (£6 concessions) plus  £3 supper. Contact  Caroline Bendle  -

RUSSELL CROWE’S THRILLER

Confident that our film club can work and defying superstition,  on Friday 13th November we are showing The Water Diviner, starring Russell Crowe (cert 15). Another excellent film. If you missed it when it was on general release this is your chance to catch up with this thrilling story.

Tickets £6 per person (family ticket two adults + two children £20) contact email lucyball132@btinternet.com (01823 680607).
