Clayhidon Quiz Night, Spring 2015

Cider Drinkers win again
A retired headmistress’s memory of a detail of the New Testament and a cider maker’s astonishing knowledge of capital cities propelled the Cider Drinkers to their umpteenth victory in the Clayhidon Parish Quiz on 24 April.
Quiz master Peter Walter devised sets of questions on the ingenious theme of Black, Down, Hills, Natural and Beauty. Despite a determined charge by old familiars like the Mad Cows and the Parish Councillors and challenges by newcomers the Tipton Terriers, Lost Sheep , Snizzlers and others they could not catch the Cider Drinkers.
Margaret Blackmore and Alex Hill, who have been the core of the Cider Drinkers for years, were joined this time by Alison and Gareth Weekes. The scorer was Judith Ward.
The hall committee laid on a ploughman’s supper, a raffle and a licensed bar. Eleven teams entered and the evening netted a profit of nearly £200 for hall funds.
