Clayhidon Film Nights start with Helen Mirren starring in Woman in Gold at 7.30pm on Friday 9 October.

Maria Altmann  (Helen Mirren), an octogenarian Jewish refugee from Austria, enlists the help of a lawyer (Ryan Reynolds) to take on the Austrian Government in order to recover the famous portrait of her aunt by Gustav Klimt, which had been stolen from her family by the Nazis and never returned.

“Real life often gives the movies their best stories,” said Allan Hunter in the Express. “Woman in Gold is no exception and is made irresistible by a terrific central performance from Dame Helen Mirren.”

Film Nights are presented on top quality projection and sound equipment by Moviola, Britain’s leading community cinema organisation. They begin with a short film and trailer, followed by the main feature. If this autumn trial is successful there will be more films in January, February and March.

There will be a licensed bar, popcorn, ice cream and snacks.

Tickets £6 or £20 for a family ticket (two adults + two children).  Available on the door and in advance from Lucy Ball (tel 01823 680607) or
