How you can help us win funding

Could you spare a few minutes to write a letter or email in support of the Hall Committee’s plans for extending and modernising Clayhidon Parish Hall?

Evidence of strong community support could make all the difference to a potential corporate sponsor’s decision to back the scheme.

Mid Devon District Council has given the hall committee planning permission to extend the former Victorian schoolroom.

“Our aim is to make it a warmer, more comfortable, more useful and more versatile venue without changing the character of the building,” says hall chairman Gareth Weekes

“Now we must somehow pay for the work, and we are hoping to attract corporate sponsorship, but if we are to succeed we must prove strong community support for the scheme.

“It would greatly increase our chances if people wrote saying what the hall means to them and why they think the plans are a good idea. All the letters and emails we receive will be included with our application for funding.”

Please email or write to Gareth Weekes, Deadbeer, Clayhidon, Cullompton EX15 3PN.

With the backing of Clayhidon Parish Council, it is hoped to build a complementary, highly insulated two-storey extension behind the stage to include:

New toilets

A small meeting room/dressing room for visiting performers

An upstairs area to house the parish archives

At the same time the committee is  seeking funding for other improvements, including repairing the roof, improving insulation, replacing the stage and creating a furniture store room.
